Zack Smith and The Mardi Gras Kings
Sunday, February 15, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Recipe: How to shake off those winter blah blues. You just need to dance, dear friends… move that creaky, cranky, winter weary body to the hypnotic zydeco rhythms of Zack Smith and The Mardi Gras Kings. They are as intoxicating as a tall Hurricane punch and the next best thing to being in the Big Easy itself. Want to feel a little younger than your personal calendar? … Just lose yourself in that music. It’s been a proven remedy for centuries. When it comes to life’s big questions, N’Awlins seems to have some mighty fine answers.
We could pretend to frolic on Frenchman Street, romp down Royal, imbibe on Bourbon Street, or contemplate the crowds at Café du Monde. There are feathers and masks and sequins and glitter and so many beads! Beads to throw, beads to wear, beads to swing, and beads to share. Seating is at tables of 4 or 8 with dedicated tables for singles. But who can stay seated while a smokin’ band is playing? Grab any partner and shake it for all you’re worth. There is a full liquor license, so break out those crazy cocktail shakers to fuel the fun. (I’m making Po’ Boys and vintage Vieux Carré cocktails for my guests. What about you?)
This is our fifth Fat Tuesday with Zack and the band, Sunday, February 15, 2026. They know how to have a good time—and how to show you one too. All you really have to do is be ready to party. Perhaps you’ll find a new friend or maybe stir up an old flame. You just never know where that second line might take you. Now follow that man with the raucous horn and strut your best stuff. Let the good times roll! Laissez les bons temps rouler

Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Master Plan Presentation
Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The Civic Association of Heritage Harbour is pleased to announce an upcoming presentation on the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Master Plan, provided by the Anne Arundel County Executive’s Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services. The plan outlines a vision to transform the historic Crownsville Hospital site into a public park that honors its history while creating spaces for healing, connection, recreation, and environmental learning.
Highlights include trails and natural areas, upgraded recreational amenities, cultural and educational spaces, community-serving facilities, and the preservation of key historic buildings. A central Path of Reverence will guide visitors through the park’s story and wellness-focused experiences.
The presentation will be led by Chris Trumbauer, Chair of the Crownsville Advisory Committee and County Budget Officer, joined by Michael Stroud, Project Manager, and special guest Janice Hayes Williams, local historian.

George Merchant, President of the Civic Association of Heritage Harbor Homeowners and Deedee Mahaffay, Food Drive Chair presented the monetary donations to Sarah Reilly, Director of Development and Community Relations for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.

Parking in Heritage Harbour Streets is an issue that the Heritage Harbour Community Association (HHCA) and the Civic Association of Heritage Harbour Homeowners (CAHHH) received several very helpful responses from our residents. One of the most serious concerns was about parking that blocks access on our streets, especially for emergency response vehicles.
We contacted officers of the West Annapolis and Riva Voluntary Fire Departments about this problem. They shared that they need at least 10 feet between parked vehicles on opposite sides of a street and at least 15 feet from any fire hydrant. The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works representative agreed that sharing this critical information at Heritage Harbour would be “a huge victory for you and your community.”
This article emphasizes the importance that Heritage Harbour residents and visitors are aware of the importance of providing room for emergency vehicles to easily get to all residences in Heritage Harbour.
Emergency vehicles need a clearance of at least 10 feet on all streets and 15 feet access to fire hydrants:
We should never park vehicles on both sides of the street leaving less than 10 feet of clearance between them. (Distance of Two 5-foot people with arms outstretched) We should never park within 15 feet of any fire hydrant. (It is Illegal) Our Heritage Harbour community will continue to discuss ways to work together on keeping our streets safe.
